Burgess108 Report for May 15, 2008

WE ARE ON THE BALLOT!

PETITIONS

I just returned from Lansing where I filed the maximum number of petition signatures permitted (400 - plus an extra 22 for insurance) to place Janis M. Burgess on the primary ballot for State Rep for the 108th district. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who signed and circulated petitions for me. The only candidate in the 108th to put in the work of circulating petitions, I had a great time talking with all of you, throughout the district, about this race.

DOORS

The Janis Burgess Walking Tour is well under way. Our radio ad (you can hear it by visiting the website: www.burgess108.com) announced the Walking Tour in Mid-April and I've received warm welcomes in all three counties, as I knock on doors to talk with folks about what matters to us in the U.P. Care to join me? It really is fun, and I'm pretty sure that all of the snowbanks (of any consequence, anyway) are gone, now. I'm walking in all three counties at the same time, so just send an email to janis@burgess108.com and we can co-ordinate schedules.

SPEAKING

Help me to get our message out! If you belong to an organization that welcomes candidates (not all do, so be sure to check)I'd love to speak to your group. Or just invite me to attend with you, and introduce me to your friends. Contact me to set this up:

PARADES

The season is upon us! With three counties and a cultural interest in parades, there are plenty of opportunities to walk with the Burgess for State Rep crowd this summer. If you were in one of the several parades of last summer with us, you know how much I really do love a parade. Come join us this summer and catch the view from the street looking out. Call or email the numbers listed above for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Waterfront (first weekend in August), Labor Day, the Leif Erickson Parade, the Christmas Parades and any other I might have missed.

FUNDRAISING

If you've been thinking about sending a contribution to my campaign "when you get a minute" - now would be a really great time. That address again?

We've had great success with little house parties or gatherings at a local establishment to share a pizza and raise some money. If you'd like to get a few friends together to talk about the campaign and raise a little money, those are a few of my favorite things, too! Call or email and we can make it happen.

The primary election is less than 3 months away. We've ordered yardsigns, bumper stickers and materials to distribute. Donations of up to $500 per person (no corporate checks permitted) per election cycle (Nov. 2006 through Nov. 2008) are truly appreciated. Those of you on the "installment plan" have been really helpful in keeping our cash flow coming in. Your periodic contributions mean a great deal to me, as does your continuing support and belief in this campaign.

FULL SPEED AHEAD TO AUGUST AND NOVEMBER VICTORIES!
